Review of 2022

The travel year of 2022 has been one of the best in a very long, loooong time. Not just because we weren’t dragged down by all of the strange things that have been happening around the world during the past couple of years, but there’s actually been quite a lot of traveling going on. It’s been a good year, and definitely a great travel year!

The beginning of 2022 started with a weekend cruise to Tallinn in Estonia, where we were supposed to see the Christmas market, but it closed the day before we got there. And not that I did not know it before, but now I REALLY know that I get seasick, even on bigger cruise ships. We took a trip to the capital of Poland, Warsaw, where we celebrated Jacobs’s birthday.

Oh yes, April finally took us back to Italy and to the small town of Brindisi, which we completely fell in love with. And in May we headed to beautiful Croatia for the very first time, where we visited the town of Rijeka.

Our Swedish midsummer at the end of June was spent in Vadstena with some of our closest friends. At the beginning of July, we met up again, as we went to a festival in Stockholm with music from the 90ies.

As soon as our four weeks of summer vacation started we headed off to Italy (yes again), with a one-way ticket, what an adventure! We started out in Bologna, then took the train to Florence for a few days, yet another train to Rome, and ended our trip with a few days on the beach of Fiumicino.

In late September we traveled to the woods of Värmland and Örebro in Sweden to enjoy the autumn nature with some of our friends. And the main reason we went there was of course to celebrate a big birthday of a dear friend. We had a spa day at Loka Brunn, which was the first time I have ever been to a spa. I really enjoyed the amazing hot water pools, especially the outdoor ones.

In late November we traveled back to Poland again, yes again. That makes three visits to Poland in about a year, give or take a month. But this time we stayed in the fantastic old town of Gdansk, where we could enjoy the most amazing Christmas market I have ever seen.

December came with yet another Christmas market, or two actually, but this time we revisited the island of Gotland here in Sweden to attend their weekend of medieval festivities. So we visited the regular Christmas market in the town square and the medieval Christmas market on the same day.
