Places for great food in Edinburgh

I haven’t given you guys any recommendations for restaurants in a while, so I thought I would give you some of our most recent ones from our trip to Edinburgh in late November 2023. The first few recommendations are from places where we have eaten either lunch or dinner, but the later two are from early morning breakfasts.

For the most parts, we order our separate plates for breakfast, and sometimes for dinner as well, but most often we share a plate and try to taste several different dishes instead.

📍 Fish & Chips and a baconburger at Auld Hundred

📍 Fish Pie at Deacon Browdys Tavern

📍 Loaded Potato Skins with slow-cooked Guinness Brisked Chilie and their Famous Sunday Roast Rump Cap with gravy, seasonal greens, and Yorkshire Pudding / Biddy’s

📍 Curry Wurst at the Christmasmarket

Yeah I know, the Christmas market is not open all year round, but if you are lucky enough to be in the city when the market is open, I do recommend that you go there to try some food.

We had a few really great breakfasts on our last trip, so here are or recommendations for some places that not only have a good breakfast plate but they are open early in the mornings.

📍 Poached eggs with smashed avocado and a Full Scottish breakfast with haggis and Blood pudding / Lucken Booths

📍 Smoked salmon and poached eggs, and of course a bacon and scrambled eggs / Cafe Edinburgh

Oh, there are no recommendations for pubs one might say… well, we do have quite a few of those as well if you would like to hear about that, maybe in a different post though?
