Review of 2023

We started the year 2023 with a weekend at our friend’s house on the outskirts of Borås, where we spent New Year’s with great food, wine, and laughter. Quite a good way to start the new year, don’t you think? But other than that, January was spent mostly at home.

In late February we went back to Bologna in Italy for the second time. It’s a fantastic city and I don’t think I’m lying when I speak for the both of us, we would love to go back again.

March is a busy month for us, workwise, but at the beginning of April, we headed off for a weekend in Thessaloniki, Greece. In May we had a week of sunshine, tzatziki, lamb chops, and beachlife as we visited the island of Karpathos in Greece, where we stayed in the town of Pigadia.

The Swedish midsummer weekend was spent at our friend’s house in Borås, giving us a bit of a roadtrip and some fantastic days with BBQ and laughter. Our summer vacation started with a small family trip to the capital of England, where we spent an awesome weekend with our son, exploring around London.

We had a few weeks of just hanging out back home during our summer holiday, which resulted in a lot of lazy summer days on our back patio, just hanging out with friends and family, as well as helping my mother to move into her new apartment. And finally, our vacation ended with a week on the island of Rhodes in Greece. This was our third visit to Greece in 2023.

At the end of August, we went back on the roads to drive to some of our best friends in Borås for yet another weekend of birthday celebrations and laughter, the third time in Borås this year.
In mid-September we took a train to go visit my uncle up in the northern parts of Sweden, the first time in so many years that I had been back “home”.

October gave us a trip quick stop to Stockholm for a Gin-tasting at Stockholms Bränneri, superfun! And then we went back to Italy, and it was about time that we brought our friends from Borås, so together we headed to the more northern parts of the country to visit the city of Turin.

Late November was the start of this year’s Christmas market in Edinburgh, and since we haven’t been able to return to Scotland due to airplane strikes and covid – this was just perfect! It was like going back home to visit a dear friend, we just had an amazing weekend.

December gave us another opportunity to visit our beautiful capital Stockholm Sweden, to enjoy some Christmas lights and amazing food with my beautiful mother.

Looking back at the travel year of 2023, it’s been a year of going back and revisiting places that we have already been to before, like Bologna, London, Rhodes, and Edinburgh. I guess that all started with us returning to Rome last summer, and getting that familiar feeling of “Hey, I know this place” and it’s been quite nice to mix that feeling with exploring new places around the world. And we’ve also been traveling a lot more this year with our family members and that’s always on the plus side.
