Poland - Gdansk

First impression of Gdansk

As you might have noticed, Poland has become quite our recent favorite. We have been to Krakow, and Warsaw before, and in late December of 2022, we visited Gdansk. And we love, love, loved it!

We had an amazing weekend, not only because we managed to get the dates right and flew into the city on the opening day of the Christmas market, but because the city was just all that you could ever want. It is old but modern, the river Motława runs straight through the city and it may be just me but I love being close to the water. Gdansk also has a big bell tower that gives off the most amusing sound (check my Instagram story if you want to hear it), they have a Ferris wheel and a two-story high merry-go-round. Our first encounter with snow this winter came during our weekend in Gdansk, so how could you ask for more?

If you are somewhat of a foodie, like we are, you’ll find no shortage of restaurants. Whether you are into more of the street food scene or looking for a gourmet chef, you have definitely come to the right place. I have posted another blog post with some tips for different restaurants, pubs, and bars. And you don’t have to worry, the prices in Gdansk are just as affordable as the other cities in Poland that we have visited.
