Italy - Brindisi

Brindisi – first impression

A lot of you have been asking about our trip to Brindisi, so I thought I would give you kind of a first impression… First of all, let me start by saying that we love Italy, so booking a trip to Brindisi was a simple choice for us, even though none of us had even heard of this city before this. But as we do love Italy we were just sure that we would love Brindisi as well. And we did!

We booked our tickets through Ryanair, where we paid about 350 euros for two people, Thursday to Sunday. The transfer taxi set us back 20 euros, and it took about 15 minutes from the airport to the city center.

We stayed at Santo Stefano Luxury Rooms throughout the entire weekend, a supernice apartment with a full kitchen, a large balcony, pool on the roof. We paid about 400 euros for the weekend, but I will tell you more about the apartment in a separate post. And yes, I do recommend Santo Stefano Luxury Rooms!

Brindisi is a bit of a transit city, so there are a lot of people that use the city as a connection to other cities. The train station is located within walking distance and it will take you to Lecce in 20 minutes if you would like a daytrip.

My first impression of the city is that it’s small and cute, everything is close. We only used a taxi twice, and that was to and from the airport, everything else is within a walking distance. The people are super-friendly, maybe lacking in the English department, but you will have no problem at all getting understood, they will go above and beyond to make sure that you have a great time – as all Italians do.
I have to admit that I fell in love with Brindisi, and I would love to go back and revisit the city to explore it some more. Even though I would say that a long weekend is more than enough time to explore the entire city.
