Italy - Brindisi

Pasta and pizza, ohmy!

The Mediterranean cuisine has always been a favorite of mine, especially the dishes from the Italian kitchen, such as pasta, pizza, and seafood. Those of you who know me know that if I get to choose freely I always choose pasta if that is an option.

As we visited Brindisi in Italy we tried out some amazing food at several different restaurants, and as always I thought I would share some of them with you.

La Locanda del Porto
This was a restaurant that was kind of more on the fancy side. The interior design was leaning towards the marine theme, super cozy. As this was just lunch, we split a plate of pasta with swordfish, lemon pesto, and some wine.

Escosazio
So you choose your wine and sidedish, then it’s time to go inside and look at the meat that you want to be cooked for your plate. You choose what you want and how much of it you think you can eat. Jacob had a cheesesteak with grilled potatoes and I had the Gorgonzola bombette with grilled veggies.

Ristorante pizzeria Bella Napoli
Look at that ceiling and cross of St John! We had already ordered our food and drinks when we saw the cross that filled the entire inside of the restaurant, simply beautiful. My Italian is not as good as I wished it to be, but even though the staff had quite a sparse knowledge of the English language we had no problem at all getting an amazing dinner of pizza, pasta, and white wine.

Diecimiglia
The absolute best with this restaurant is that it has an outdoor area right by the water, so on a sunny day as it was when we visited, it’s the perfect lunch spot. We tried out their seafood and their tortellini, some wine, and of course an Aperol Spritz.

Which one was my favorite?
Oh no, I could not possibly choose one of them, they were all part of our amazing weekend in Brindisi, so I could not tell you that one was better than the other. Food is a great part of traveling for us, as is the experience of staying in a new city, meeting people, having a waiter that’s somewhat drunk, walking until your feet hurt, and waking up early to see the city come to life. I could not tell you which part of the journey I love the most, it’s a combination of it all that makes the trip exciting and memorable. If I asked you the same question, would you be able to tell me what part of traveling you love most?
