Breakfast, lunch or dinner in Thessaloniki

We had a lot of tzatziki in Thessaloniki, I’ll tell you that! Tzatziki with olives, tzatziki with souvlaki, with gyros, with fried fish… with wine? sure! For breakfast, no didn’t but maybe we should have.

So I thought kind of doing a post where I give you guys some recommendations of where you can pick up some great Greek food, whether you are up for dinner, a quick lunch, breakfast, or just some street food. And at the end of the post, I’ll share some places that are good for a drink or a snack.
Hope you enjoy the read!

This was just an opening on a corner, where a family seemed to be doing servings of fish and chips straight onto baking papers. Super low-key. If you search for it on google-maps it’s called Mpakaliarakia sto limani. Loved it!

Loupino. We had some tzatziki and olives as starters, together with a glass of wine. The restaurant was quite busy even though it was barely passed lunch, so we had to wait quite a while for our main course which was souvlaki and bifteki. A bit on the fancy side, so if that’s what you are looking for – this could be your place.

This is a hard one to describe… you go passed the marked, pass the lambs and fish, pass the olives, up a step. Hey, tzatziki! If you wish to find it, search for THE CAFE Euripides on Google Maps. We had fried zucchini balls, goat cheese with a kind of tomato marmalade and lemons, lamb chops, and tzatziki. Amazing!

When it comes to breakfast I would either recommend Beyond the Wall or The Garden Bar, both of them have amazing menus so don’t be surprised if you find yourself at a table where someone has ordered way too much food…

As for street food, there are gyros everywhere… we stopped for gyros every night just before heading back to our hotel, whether we stopped for gyros or just did a walk-by and had gyros in bed, they were all good. Gyros is usually with pork and fries, but we tried with chicken, feta cheese, and of course – tzatziki, and they were all good. We paid around 8 euros for two gyros.

And let’s give it up for a few honorable mentions, either for cocktails, just a glass of wine, some snacks, the good music, or maybe just for the view …
