Greece - Athens

The Acropolis of Athens and the Parthenon

As I have said before, it’s a bit of a walk up to but it’s well worth it, you pass places like Odeon of Herodes on your way there. But make sure that you bring your water, especially on a hot day, there are no places to buy anything once you get up there. And bring your walking shoes, the hills are steep at some places and the stairs are really long. It will take you about 20 minutes to walk up to Acropolis, but it took us a bit longer since we could not help to stop everywhere just to look at the places we passed.

Upon the Acropolis, there are several old buildings in various states. I usually do my research a bit more thoroughly than I did the time we walked the Acropolis, but it was okay anyway. I knew the looks and history of the two buildings that had caught my mind before even booking the trip to Athens, Parthenon and The old temple of Athena.

Make sure you have a good amount of time when you get there, there are so many buildings to see on the way up there. And once you are up on the hill, the view is simply amazing. You can see the entire city and I do promise to show you some more of the images I took overlooking the city. But let’s focus on the buildings in this post, shall we…

We managed to get there just in time for the sun to start to set, and do I have to tell you that Athens looked kind of pretty in the golden light of the sunset?

So to sum this up… make sure you wear your best walking shoes, bring a bottle of water, check the time of the sunset and make sure your batteries in your camera are fresh. Enjoy!

Have you ever been to Acropolis?
